Hardap

Geography and history

The Hardap Province is located in the southern parts of Namibia. It has a total population of approximately 80 000 residents and the capital is Mariental. This province is well-known for being the host of the Hardap Dam which is used for irrigational and entertainment purposes. The province borders on four others in the country – Erongo, Khomas, Omaheke and Karas.

The capital town of Mariental supports many economic activities such as irrigated farming and ostrich abattoirs. The Hardap Dam Resort is a very popular tourist destination in this area where visitors can enjoy many water activities. The town of Rehoboth offers tourists the chance to experience many hot water springs.
