Geography and history

The Kavango Province is situated in the northern parts of Namibia. It has a total population of approximately 223 000 inhabitants and its capital is Rundu. This area is well-known for its agricultural activities and organised forestry industry. This province borders on Angola and Botswana and four other provinces of the country – Caprivi, Otjozondjupa, Oshikoto and Ohangwena.

The capital town of Rundu is situated on the Okovango River near the Angolan border and is known for its open-air market. The Mangetti National Park and Khaudum Game Reserve are also in the town’s vicinity.
