Kavango
Geography and history
The Kavango Province is situated in the northern parts of Namibia. It has a total population of approximately 223 000 inhabitants and its capital is Rundu. This area is well-known for its agricultural activities and organised forestry industry. This province borders on Angola and Botswana and four other provinces of the country – Caprivi, Otjozondjupa, Oshikoto and Ohangwena.
The capital town of Rundu is situated on the Okovango River near the Angolan border and is known for its open-air market. The Mangetti National Park and Khaudum Game Reserve are also in the town’s vicinity. If tourists would like to know more about the history of the Kwangali people then they should visit the town of Nkurenkuru.
