Omusati
Geography and history
The Omusati Province is located in the northern parts of Namibia. It has a total population of approximately 243 000 inhabitants and its capital is Outapi. This province is known for its abundance of Mopani trees and the main activities in this area are of agricultural nature. The province borders on the country of Angola and three other provinces of the country – Ohangwena, Oshana and Kunene.
The capital town of Outapi, also known as Utapi and Ombalantu, houses the famous Omukwa Ombalantu baobab hollow tree. This tourist attraction has served many purposes in the past such as a post office and coffee shop. It is now a craft shop and tourists are encouraged to visit this magnificent giant hollow tree. The picturesque town of Ruacana is a definite must-see with the Ruacana Falls as one of the ultimate tourist spots with regards to beautiful landscapes.
