Geography and history
The Otjozondjupa Province is situated in the central parts of Namibia. It has a total population of approximately 143 000 residents and its capital is Otjiwarongo. The area is well-known for being the host of the Waterberg Plateau Park and cattle farming activities. The province borders on the country of Botswana and six other provinces of the country – Omaheke, Khomas, Erongo, Kunene, Oshikoto and Kavango. This province borders more provinces than any other in Namibia.
The capital city of Otjiwarongo is situated near some of the best game reserves and nature parks in the country. This city has many German-speaking residents and tourists can experience the German influence while visiting this city. Tourists are encouraged to visit the town of Grootfontein with its many hot water springs. This town is also host to the world’s largest meteorite known as the Hoba meteorite.
